Arduino Controlled 3D Printed Rollercoaster with Launch system

Reading Time: < 1 minute

If you follow my LEGO blog and YouTube channel, then you will know I’m a fan of anything that features a rollercoaster! Specifically LEGO rollercoasters – and real ones when I get the chance to visit a theme park. But this 3D printed model takes model rollercoasters to a whole new level!

When I first saw this model rollercoaster I couldn’t believe first how smooth it was. But then how much real-life detail has been packed into it. Making use of an Arduino microcomputer to control 5 motors, will stop the cars, move them forward, engage a stupidly fast launch system (like the kind you see on hypercoasters) and then track breaks to bring it to rest. If none of that makes sense, it basically behaves almost exactly like a bloody fast real-life rollercoaster!

I’m now trying to figure out if I can use any of those 3D Printing techniques to turbo charge my LEGO roller coasters! I’d been considering a launch system with wheels, but the force wouldn’t be there unless you had a lot of wheels and motors to power it… If anyone has gotten this to work, let me know in the comments. And if you just enjoyed this, let me know!
