Alpha Centauri – Copernicus Base

December 30, 2019 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 2 minutes

If you follow my YouTube channel will know that I’ve been building a Space Centre in my LEGO City. So, as you can guess from that, I’m a space and sci-fi nut which is why the Alpha Centauri – Copernicus Base by Montgomery Burns (actual name Kris Kelvin) appealed to me.

Looking at the scene set here, it’s got all the essentials of satellite TV dishes, moon golf carts, an outhouse… Wait…

Ok, seriously though, how cool is this MOC! Even down to how he’s textured and coloured the landscape. Each of the buildings and structures looks amazing and I love the use of unconventional pieces like the Star Wars Astromech droid. I feel like the shape and size of the arms would have worked perfectly in LEGO’s recent Lunar Space Station – a set a lot of people felt was too small.

Then there are the vehicles, including a golf cart! Yes, I know it’s not a gold cart, but what if there was a golf course up there. Off on a tangent. Sorry. But lunar golf!!!!! How cool!

Not stopping there, he’s got a very utilitarian looking space crane and the perfect lunar camper van for those nights away from basecamp.

Looking around I just love the technique and design he’s used with those 3 legged structures – the solar panels and satellite dish. The more I look at this landscape, the more I see.

I hope you are as inspired by the creation as me. Let me know in the comments what you think of it! And be sure to share it.
