This is a review of the March 2020 LEGO gift with purchase from lego.com. It’s the 40th Anniversary Steam Engine which is a modern take on the 1980 LEGO Train, set number 7810. An absolute classic but is it something I’m keen to have in my collection? [Read more…] about LEGO 40th Anniversary Train Review (40370)
Remember to be nice! | Bag of Bricks #6 | A LEGO Podcast
A couple of things happened in the last few weeks that made me realise that we need to be nice to each other. Especially with all the panic the media is inciting in people about Coronavirus. The LEGO community is a shining example of being nice to each other. And some other ramblings about my LEGO AFOL life.

BUILDING THE 40th ANNIVERSARY LEGO TRAIN (40370) #shorts
This was a set that demanded something a bit more during the build. So I did one of my old frame by frame builds. Simple, quick and I think a delight to watch! Enjoy!

Sci-fi Portal Forest Scene LEGO MOC
This lego moc is inspired by all the movies and games that features portals. I built the gate a while back but never really “completed” the scene. Now I have and I’m really happy with it! The ramp works well, my illegal build control panel works, and the trees are something new for me. Let me know what you think!

About this LEGO MOC build
The ramp works well I think. But, making it an odd number of studs was not originally planned but I feel it really added to the look of the build and makes it way more interesting that than being 6 or 4 wide as I’d originally considered.
And if you look at the control panel, it’s done using handcuffs and a wheel clip. Now I’m not sure if that’s a legal or illegal build technique, but I like how it came out!
One other thing in this build is the trees. The one on the left uses some lego techniques I haven’t tried before but figured out based on a couple of examples I found online. I like how it gives them shape and angle that really brings them to life.
