LEGO CITY UPDATE 11: We’ve been hacked!

March 9, 2019 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 3 minutes

LEGO CITY UPDATE 11: We’ve been hacked! Someone’s hacked some of the LEGO Train junctions to go outwards and that meant the train yard had to swap places with the living zone, and now I think it might be awesome!

This was one of those ideas that I just couldn’t get out of my head. Now I’d modified my junctions in that recent video to exit outwards, it meanst that some new opportunities could present themselves! Here’s that video if you haven’t seen it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ccebx2-NuRk

It did involve swapping the living zone and cargo areas around, but I think it was the right thing to do! The spaces like this seem to suit what’s in them that much better! The cargo area is now more compact thanks to those junctions and we now have a really good space for the LEGO Train workshop.

This change should also sit better with the harbour area which has a new home that I think will work well. And, in writing this, I think the Studsburg LEGO City might be getting a small leisure marina!

Moving our LEGO City living zone and train station over to the old cargo dept also feels like it has a better flow. But, giving the space resrictions I have, I’m going to move to using Brick built roads. The LEGO Train station also has a lot more space as you can see from the 60197 Train sitting comfortably in the station space.

Let me know what you think about this change along with suggestions in the comments when you’ve finished watching the video and don’t forget to like it!

Joss Builds the LEGO Movie 2 Emmet and Benny’s ‘Build and Fix’ Workshop! 70821. This was one of the sets from my first LEGO Movie haul bought for Joss to build. Did she like it? You can see her amazing reaction in the video!

This video is all about the joy of building LEGO with your kids and how much they enjoy the interaction with their parents!

The LEGO Movie 2, “Emmet and Benny’s ‘Build and Fix’ Workshop!” set 70821is a 4+ set. What that means is that there are a few larger parts to help them understand what is happening without having to build a complex chassis, for example.

We had so much fun doing this LEGO Build together and you can see how much she does herself. It’s really amazing to watch and be part of! I really hope this video makes you as happy as it made me!

Don’t forget to say Hi to Joss in the comments and don’t forget to like it!

LEGO Movie 2 Sets Emmet's Dream HouseReading Time: 3 minutes

My first LEGO Movie 2 sets! Did I make the right choice? There are some great sets that LEGO has released for this movie. I like a lot of them and will get more. But thought I’d start with these ones now they’re out in Australia. But did I get the right ones first? One Exception: LEGO Movie 2: Apocalypseburg – 70840! DIY LEGO Hack: How to make LEGO Train Junctions go “Outward” #tutorial

LEGO Train Junction Outward Hack – yes, this is a way to make LEGO City Train Junctions go outwards instead of inwards which saves you precious LEGO City building space!

You may have seen my previous video, LEGO Train Junctions Shorter Crossover Hack, that I’m not afraid to injure some LEGO Track in the interest of saving some precious LEGO City build space. You can watch that video here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIvX7dVKofw

This hack takes that idea a step further and was something that was suggested on Facebook based on the idea of cutting the track in a couple of strategic spots. What you be doing is taking the bit you removed from the left junction and putting in on a right LEGO Train Junction, and vice-versa. Doing that, your left junction then exits left, rather than sort of straight.

Why would you want to do this? It saves sooooo much space! Seriously! This is why 4DBrix and TrixBrix exist. They sell a version of this idea for this exact reason. OK, their method doesn’t involve cutting track as they use 3D Printing. And one other thing… This is not something you can undo. It is a permanent change to the track. The aftermarket ones can be changed freely.

This opens up a lot of opportunity such as a much denser train yard for example (something I’m very keen on! You can also do things like creating a neat crossover point – I’ll show that in some photos on my website.

Let me know in the comments what you think of this LEGO Hack. Is it going too far or is it something you’ve always wished you could do? Don’t forget to like and share it too!

And if you haven’t already, hit the subscribe button and turn on the “bell” to get the latest updates and see what I’ve been up to!

Also, I have shown clear where to cut in the video, and am not responsible if you don’t follow those guides.

First things first. The biggest update here has to be Joss’ LEGO Sculptures by the tunnel! For those that don’t know, that’s a reference to Sydney’s Sculptures by the Sea event that’s held yearly.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etRYX0h91DY

Secondly, we have Bob from Robin Hull joins us with his biscuits at 06:28. Hanging out with Dr McBrick and BrickBakery!
https://www.youtube.com/user/Meathead1962

My main focus has been on building lately. If you’ve been following recently, you’ll know I’ve been building LEGO Ninjago City 70620. And, I think I’ve nailed how that and the docks are going to work together!

But, more importantly, I have – what I think – is a great idea for how the Studsburg Ninjago District is going to work! And boy am I excited to tell you.

Otherwise, lots of little updates. The beginnings of a market is starting to form on the promenade. I think that’s going to be a lot of fun – and a lot of parts. There’s also a crazy science experiment starting out near observation point.

Let me know what you think along with suggestions when you’ve finished watching the video and don’t forget to like it!

And if you haven’t already, hit the subscribe button and turn on the “bell” to get the latest updates and see what I’ve been up to!
