LEGO City MOC Tutorial: Scaffolding

February 1, 2019 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 3 minutes

LEGO City MOC Tutorial: Scaffolding! One thing I really love and am focused on is adding lots of little details and activities to my LEGO City. This LEGO MOC I’ve created is something that does just that, and several of my channel subscribers asked for a LEGOS tutorial, so here it is.

If you need help importing the list you Bricklink:

First up, here’s a link to the parts list for this LEGO MOC that you can download and import to a wishlist in Bricklink:
http://bit.ly/2G4FJ9S

Make sure you select upload BrickLink XML as the type. It contains all of the parts you need to complete this tutorial with the version of this LEGO City MOC that has wheels.

If you want to see this LEGO MOC in the city, here’s a link to the LEGO City Update video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oonlxp38pjY

And also the Instagram photo of the MOC:
https://www.instagram.com/p/BtDgO9HnHii/

The build itself of this LEGO City MOC is constructed around 2 decks that are 2×6 LEGO Plates and 2 of the LEGO Ladder pieces. They are then connected with a diagonal cross member.

Now, one confession. The crossbar I have used actually came from a Ninjago set which is why it has the angled claw ends. The reason I used it for this LEGO MOC was that it fit perfectly across the width, but you can also use straight clips if you prefer.

Let me know if you find this LEGO How-To video easy to follow and I’d love to see it in your city. I’d also like to hear any suggestions for other mocs to work on. And don’t forget to like this LEGO MOC Video!!

And if you haven’t already, hit the subscribe button and turn on the “bell” to get the latest updates and see what I’ve been up to!

LEGO CITY UPDATE: did I listen?

LEGO CITY UPDATE – did I listen? The last Studsburg update had well-deserved feedback on the open-backed creator sets on display. So did I change the LEGO City layout as my subscribers suggested?

The short answer is that I did listen to what you said in the last LEGO City Update.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqoh8T7l0OE

But I didn’t do everything you suggested with my LEGOS. I did something better to improve it I think. Stay with me dear viewer for a look through the logic that goes on in my head

The first big change in this LEGO City update was moving the Firehouse Headquarters – 75827 Ghostbusters building to the top level. I then moved two of the modulars next to it and move the LEGO Assembly Square 10255 along and used the half board to give me a 16×32 corridor which I moved the LEGO Brand Store 40305 into.

Other bits were moved around too and work has begun clearing a space for the Brick Bank 10251 to be built in which will progress over the next few LEGO City Update videos.

On the lower deck, the LEGO Train yard got a slight re-arrange and the roads are now mostly in place in a temporary form. I’ve also started work on a train repair depot LEGO MOC.

Let me know what you think along with suggestions when you’ve finished watching this LEGO City Update video and don’t forget to like it!

LEGO City Construction Loader #Review! Good or Bad? (60219)

January 26, 2019 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 2 minutes

LEGO CITY CONSTRUCTION LOADER 60219 – UNBOXING, SPEED BUILD & REVIEW! Part of the new 2019 line up, this is one of the smaller sets but does it pack a big punch in the LEGO 2019 lineup?

I will confess that the LEGO City of Studsburg is light on construction equipment currently. I’m working to resolve this and with sets like this construction loader LEGO set 60219 coming in at the budget end, LEGO is making it easier for me!

This is based on the Bobcat style of construction vehicle you see on many building sites now. Known for its ease of use, manoeuvrability and all-out fun, it was a good choice for LEGO to make!

In this video, I’ve started by unboxing the set to show you the new packaging and contents of this LEGOS set.

Then I’ve created a stop motion speed build of it to show how all the LEGO parts come together. I’ve also had some fun doing it so I hope you enjoy it!

And then finally, my thoughts on this delightful budget value LEGO set.

Let me know what you think along with suggestions when you’ve finished watching the video and don’t forget to like it!

LEGO Train Custom Handcar MOC #Tutorial

January 18, 2019 By GJBricks Leave a Comment

Reading Time: 3 minutes

LEGO Train Custom Handcar MOC Tutorial inspired by the LEGO Ideas Book 7777. This was a small build in the LEGO Ideas 7777 book and I wanted to build it using modern LEGO Train parts. Latest LEGO Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBf8HgP7ISk

If you’re new to my channel why not Subscribe – it’s Free! http://bit.ly/2LCmzIC | https://gjbricks.com
And feel free to contact me at [email protected]

First of all, the parts list for this LEGO Tutorial video can be downloaded here:
http://bit.ly/2DhJmXn

If you need help importing the list you Bricklink:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0DcsaJ_Who

For those that have read the 7777 LEGO Train Ideas book, you will recognize this as being similar to the Handcar featured at the end of that book. That’s because I was inspired to make this fun little LEGO Train build be that very build

You can see that it’s profile is different, sitting higher and not having the coloured plates that same way. This is mostly because of the size and shape of the newer train wheels – they are a lot taller than before. But, their design is more solid.

This build is filled out with some ladders, and I’ve used red and white to make it bolder and – I think – more interesting.

You can see the GJBricks SigFig Minifigure riding the handcar and I’ve included some silly shots of him on some bits of the Studsdburg LEGO City Train Loop.

Let me know what you think of this “How to” LEGO Video along with suggestions when you’ve finished watching the video and don’t forget to like it!
